Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity for an Accounts Senior to join us at our Totnes office!
Are you a dedicated and experienced Accounts Senior who can provide high-quality tax, accountancy, and VAT services to a diverse range of clients, including sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies? Then this is the role for you! It also involves planning, preparing, and reviewing accounts, managing client portfolios, and providing training and support to junior staff to help them reach their full potential.
Role & Responsibilities
Planning and preparing accounts for a variety of clients (e.g. Sole Traders, Partnerships and Limited Companies) from client records for review by manager or reporting partner
Send final accounts to clients
Assist staff with accounts completion
Setting budgets for staff members
Preparing and reviewing Tax Returns
Calculating income tax liabilities and advise clients
Preparing and reviewing Corporation Tax Returns.
Calculating corporation tax liabilities and advise clients.
Forecasting work
Dealing with everyday correspondence and emails in a timely manner.
Tax enquiry work as it arises.
Preparation of management and financial accounts
Assisting with coaching and developing junior members of the team, including on the job training
Providing software training to clients
Daily completion of your timesheet
Continuous professional development to deepen own knowledge and understanding and keep up to date with any changes within the industry
Required Experience
AAT 4 qualified with at least 1 year recent post-qualification experience
Or 3-4 years of practice experience
Desired Skills
Accounts preparation experience gained from within a fast-paced accountancy practice environment
Experience in accounts preparation, business and corporate tax, and ideally personal tax.
Strong computer and spreadsheet skills.
Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage, QuickBooks, Xero, and accounts production software like CCH.
Ability to show initiative and work effectively within a team.
Ability to build good client relationships
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills that enable you to build rapport with people at various levels
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage own workload in a timely manner while all the time ensuring we exceed client expectations
Ability to supervise and support more junior members of the team
Experience of charities is desirable but not essential
Qualifications
AAT qualified or equivalent level of experience
