Tax Compliance

We do of course have vast experience in ensuring your annual tax returns and / or your business tax computations and returns are prepared both correctly and with an eye on minimising your liability to tax.

We attempt to produce a timely and value for money product which gives you minimum disruption and delay

We will ensure you are reminded of your responsibilities and deadlines in order to keep you fully informed throughout the process.

Tax Planning

At Darnells we recognise the difference between tax planning and tax calculation. Looking at your annual accounts and calculating your tax liability is necessary but offers you no benefit. Whilst the Inland Revenue may offer to calculate your tax liability for nothing there is no guarantee that they will consider all the allowances that may be due. We can take the pain out of complex personal and capital gains tax computations and save you the time and worry of compliance work. Tax planning entails an understanding of the taxation regulations, careful review of your individual situation and proactive advice on ways to reduce your tax liability:

Annual Tax Planning Review

To coincide with your annual accounts, audit or tax return sign off / review meeting.

Proactive Tax advice

Where legislative changes may affect you and your personal circumstances we will attempt to contact you to explain the changes and what can be done to protect your position.

Tax Investigation support and professional fee protection insurance

Our tax team regularly assist clients in all manor of tax enquiries, whether minor queries, full record reviews or even off-shore disclosures etc. We will ensure you are treated fairly irrespective of the investigators findings, and try to present balanced arguments and review settlements on your behalf.

Even where your affairs are entirely in order tax enquiries are often expensive as far as professional fees (Darnells and other experts) which is why we recommend our clients take out professional fee insurance which covers the majority of fees incurred in defending and arguing an enquiry.

Darnells recommend Abbey Tax Cover, please contact Vic Ranken, our practice manager for additional details and to request a quote.

Payroll and NIC Taxation advice

Our payroll team will happily assist with ad-hoc queries relating to your payroll.

Inheritance Tax (IHT) and Estate Planning

Unlike a large number of our competitors we are actively involved in planning for succession, and work closely with solicitors to ensure an efficient service. We are also able to review IHT returns in respect of an estate to ensure all relevant allowances are claimed and valuations minimised.

Overseas and Expatriate Tax Planning

If you are planning on emigrating or are already an ex-pat, we can expertly assist you in minimising your exposure to UK taxation.

VAT advice and support

Whether you have a routine tax query, a compliance visit worry, a complex capital goods scheme or a property related problem, we are able to provide prompt, reliable and accurate advice to assist you.

Preparation of all annual Tax Returns

We do of course provide the normal services of Self Assessment Returns, Corporation Tax Returns, Annual PAYE Returns and Sub Contractors Returns.
